When you fall off your path whether it be for work or personal matters, it’s easy to beat yourself up over it. Everyone at some point in their lives has been inconsistent in some parts of their life. Things happen, circumstances change all completely healthy on the physical plane. While it’s normal because life isn’t linear, not acknowledging the root causes aren’t. Holding yourself accountable isn’t about just keeping up with your routine, it’s about constantly evaluating whether your values are congruent to your current objective. Below will be steps you can take when you get stuck in a rut.
- Identify: When you sense that things aren’t going the way you want it to be, the first thing you should do is reflect. The most effective way is to write down how you are feeling. It doesn’t have to be in an organized matter. Once you write how your feeling, on a separate sheet, identify the how, what, and why of the situation.
- Assess: Once you have identified the causes of the situation, bring up your current values and beliefs and compare/contrast to the what went wrong.
- Evaluate: If it is determined that there is a contradiction between the outcomes and your beliefs, it’s time to rewrite your current belief system that is congruent with the outcomes.
- Create: This is where you create a new plan of action that can help reach your optimal goal or outcomes. This plan of action won’t be set in stone and will be revised a plethora of times as you move along on your journey.
- Implement: The final and most crucial part of this is to implement the plan of action and take note of the results.
The goal of accountability isn’t to be perfect 100% of the time. It is used as feedback to help make sure what you are doing is in line with your principles. Your objectives will change over time, which means you will end up doing this accountability process many times throughout your life on this physical plane.
